Digital Camera Problem

I have a Fuji Finepix A340. Over the last couple months the picture quality has gone down the tube. There are large horizontal lines in the pictures, as if partys of the image are missing. Does anyone know what causes this problem?

failing ccd (charge coupled device ), the sensor that records the image.

Need to service it, most likely
