Every time i log into my account this error appears:
"explorer.exe -aplication error the aplication was unable to lstart correctly (0xc0000142). click OK to close the aplication"
After pressing ok, my desktop is completely black and there is no startbar. What can i do to fix this??
I am currently using a spare laptop, and i dont have the windows 7 disk as it didnt come with my sony vaio laptop.
is there anything i can do to sort this out apart from wiping the hard drive?
much appreciated

Unfortunately not. You will need a windows 7 disk in order to perform a system repair. Sounds as if your boot explorer.exe file is corrupt... Unless you have a restore image already on your laptop. In that case, when you first boot on, you should see a press f12 or something similar for system recovery... Then scroll to the drive with the recovery image on it...
