I heard that even if it doesn't show that popup it still may be there and was hoping some experienced guy could interpret this log. Cheers.

Also I mainly use Firefox but I sometimes need to use IE for compatibility reasons with some sites. Also if it's not too much hassle I'm looking for advice in what programs to download to use and how to use them (like only in safe mode etc). At the moment I have adaware, spybot, avant and highjacker. Thanks again.

Welcome to GTG.

Programs to run in safe mode? Do you want to know what programs to use to help prevent this from happening again? They don't have to be run in safe mode. Some of these programs will even give you real-time protection like an antivirus program does. If that's what you want, don't worry about it. We will always provide you with information to this once you are cleaned up. But if you want it now, I can provide it to you also.

OK, let's fix this up since Aurora is still there:

Please print out the instructions here (or save it in Notepad) so that you can follow along more easily.

Download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and install it. Update to the newest definitions. Do NOT run it yet.

Please download nailfix at http://users.pandora...chy/nailfix.zip (for Windows XP) or http://users.pandora...y/nailfix2k.zip (for Windows 2000) Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.cmd (or nailfix2k.bat if you have Windows 2000). Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Next run a full scan in Ewido. Post the log from the Ewido scan here.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.coqdfzdfc...tI0dQqHl3tc.cgi
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://weiygtqdpybfu...Nxi//gE7IA.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www/
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdt] RUNDLL32.EXE c:\windows\ngctl3d32.dll,_mainRD
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ProxyBurnJumpInternet] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Tonsbendproxyburn\Dashinfo.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [itch32] C:\DOCUME~1\CORYSC~1\APPLIC~1\BIKEME~1\Manager jugs active.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart
O9 - Extra button: Messenger Addon - {FB5F1911-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - http://messenger.ipfox.com (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: &Messenger Addon - {FB5F1911-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - http://messenger.ipfox.com (file missing)

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Uninstall this program from the Add/Remove panel:

Messenger Plus - this program contains a 'sponsor' program. If you installed this 'sponsor' program, please uninstall Messenger Plus and reinstall it back but without the sponsor. In this case, you DID install the sponsor. I recommend not using this program either way.

Delete these if found:

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\CORYSC~1\APPLIC~1\UPLOAD~1\
C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll
c:\windows\ngctl3d32.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Tonsbendproxyburn\
C:\DOCUME~1\CORYSC~1\APPLIC~1\BIKEME~1\

Restart your computer in normal mode and post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop: http://forums.net-in...=post&id=142443

1. Unzip/extract the files inside to a folder on your desktop.
2. Open the folder. Double click on FindIt's.bat and wait for Notepad to open a text file. It will take a while so please be patient ...
3. Then post the results here.

Your log is clean.

Install XP Service Pack 2 at your earliest convenience since it has a lot of security updates.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

Make sure to get the latest updates for Windows and Internet Explorer at http://v5.windowsupd...t.aspx?ln=en-us.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
