Hi, this isn't a virus question as such, more a virus prevention question! can anyone recommend any software for unlocking an iphone 3gs that will work and won't load viruses onto my phone, or kill it in some other way!

Thanks

Assuming this still works your going to love it. Simply visit http://jailbreakme.com from your phone.

Remember that this is not a network unlock, nor will it prevent you from adding random repositories to cydia found on the internet that may contain malware.

Due to the nature of online help we are not able to verify ownership, and will not be able to help bypass or recover any user passwords, cd keys, license codes, serial numbers, etc.

Due to Section 3 on the TOU, we cannot assist you in gaining access to hardware (computers, phones), due to the possibility of it not being yours.

Only just noticed your reply Incoming, how does jailbreaking/unlocking violate that section of the TOU?

Unlocking/jailbreaking won't circumnavigate any standard security measures put in place by the original user of the device if the op is not infact the owner. If someone wanted to remove a security lock they could simply restore the device.

Geeks to Go members cannot help with any "unauthorized" activity.

...unauthorized modification of the iOS ("jailbreaking") is a violation of the iPhone end-user license agreement

This topic has greatly outlived its usefulness, especially with so many non-staff members attempting to interpret the board rules. Unlocking the phone is no longer illegal. While Apple may state that doing so violates the EULA, I think the fact that the action itself is legal overrides their EULA for the purposes of our TOS. Instructions for unlocking the device should probably come with a warning that Apple will most likely not service it in the event that something breaks, but I don't see it as a violation of our rules.

Since there's nothing left to add, I'm closing this topic.
