Hi: I recently got the blue screen. Prior, I was experiencing problems with my 56k modem, the port wouldn’t open. I cleaned modem, ram sticks, still had problem. Then I plugged my modem into another slot, and it has worked fine since. I also ran a test with windiag on my two ram memory sticks and they seemed to be fine. Other than this, I have made no significant changes to my system, other than installing a few games.

This is dmp info using BluceScreenView:

The dump file reads:

Mini110110-01.dmp 01/11/2010 6:35:32 KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED 0x1000008e 0xc0000005 0x80597894 0xa9a0e9a4 0x00000000 eamon.sys eamon.sys+38760 Amon monitor ESET Smart Security ESET 3.0.642 32-bit C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini110110-01.dmp 1 15 2600

The two file names read:

eamon.sys eamon.sys+38760 0xa9e86000 0xa9ed3000 0x0004d000 0x47bbf93c 20/02/2008 4:56:12 ESET Smart Security Amon monitor 3.0.642 ESET C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\eamon.sys

ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+c0894 0x804d7000 0x806cdc00 0x001f6c00 0x41107b0c 04/08/2004 12:58:36 Sistema operativo Microsoft® Windows® Sistema y núcleo de Windows NT 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Microsoft Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

I have never posted a blue screen inquiry so I'm not sure if I should attach the dmp files or anything else,

Thanks so much, I love Geeks2Go

The second parameter of your error code represents a status access violation. In normal terms that means that a program tried to access memory that it didn't have access to. That could mean that your RAM is faulty, among other less common causes. I suggest you click on Memtest Instructions in my sig, and run Memtest on your computer with one stick of RAM at a time. Let me know if you have any questions, so that I can clarify for you.

Hi:

So, I downloaded the most recent version of MemTest, thoroughly cleaned out the two slots with compressed air and cleaned the sticks with an eraser, and then ran MemTest for 7 passes on each memory stick. Each showed no errors. Then when I tried to reboot the computer I could not, it only went to the final blue screen of death, the one with only the stop message, where you cannot even boot into safe mode. Anyways I was forced to reinstall windows. So far everything is running smooth, I am hesitant about running the MemTest again. Any idea why the MemTest might have cause this complete meltdown? Should I just use the computer and see what happens, thanks, martin

So before running Memtest, blue screens randomly popped up when you were on your computer? And after running Memtest, a BSOD popped up on boot? Do you remember the STOP code of the boot BSOD?
In my experience, Memtest has never caused a problem to worsen. It only stress tests the RAM to make sure it is error free. For now, I suggest you continue work as normal, and if you experience any more BSODs, post back.

Hi, yes before running Memtest, I got a few blue screens that I had to manually power down but the computer restarted without any problem, i guess that is called a blue screen, and then got the BSOD (BSOD refers to the ones you cannot reboot or go into safemode, right? i'm not that familiar with the terminology) after succesfuly running the Memtest. No, my bad, I did not right down the STOP code. I will work as normal and get back if anything happens. Thanks again for you help.

Another question I have is that when i reinstalled windows I am missing the following drivers:
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
Ethernet Controller
Sm Bus Controller
Unknown Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

This was the first time I reinstalled windows on this computer, it came to me without any discs what so ever. I reinstalled windows XP with SP3.

Thanks,

Blue screen, BSOD (blue screen of death) all the same thing. A general term for any kind of blue screen STOP lockup. Sorry for confusing you.
Post back with the make and model of your computer so that I can find the drivers for you.
Also click on Everest Instructions in my sig, and post the report as per the instructions.

Is there any hardware that is not functioning properly? Sound and video good?
Let me know if any more BSODs pop up.

Hi, ok, with the blue screen it just seems like there were two different kind a longer one with more explanations that you could reboot the computer, and a shorter one that ended in the stop message.

anyways yeah no more BSODs so far so good working great,

but yeah there is no audio, video seems ok (i mean in media players) but graphics don't work with video games.

here is the everest report (i used the 2006 version which is the one i have):

I noticed that the motherboard name is: ASUS P5GC-MX/1333

Thanks!!
