Hi,
I've only just created an account here and am by no means a computer geek. In fact I have very little knowledge of what I'm doing at all regarding PC's, but I'll try and explain this as best I can.
My problem is that every 5 to 10 minutes, my wireless internet connection appears to disappear as it were. The internet stops working, and Skype goes offline. However when I hover over the little wireless symbol in the bar at the bottom, it still says it's connected fine, with excellent signal ect ect. This will automatically correct itself in around 20 minutes when a little bubble pops up saying Wireless network connection is now connected (Or something along those lines). This only happens on this laptop (We use 2 on our wireless network) and I have no problem with:
A, My other computer
B, My iPhone
This makes me think it's something to do with the Laptop as nothing goes wrong with the other two. This laptop is quite a lot older than both the other laptop and the iPhone which could be a problem... I'm not to sure. You will probably need lots more information, but I don't know what you will need so feel free to ask lots of questions. I was told that the best thing to do was to buy a wireless card, but I would much prefer just to sort it out. My laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG 9P6M if that helps, and I've had this issue for longer than I can remember (I'm only 14).

Some laptops simply have lousy wireless hardware. The only reasonable solution is an external wireless adapter (USB/PCMCIA/ExpressCard). For example: http://www.newegg.co...e=Free Shipping

OK, Thanks, I'll look into it. I think this is probably more likely, because I've tried almost everything within the Laptop's settings.

Oh, Something new... When my laptop does this, my xbox 360 loses connection to the EA Servers... Not Xbox live, just the EA severs... Something weird is going on here

That laptop probably has it's own proprietary wireless network manager. Windows has it's own as well (wireless net zero). make sure one of them is turned off or they will interfere with each other.

<br /><br /><br /> Try this, http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/2000.html It says it's for win 2000 but it's the same in xp.....You are using xp correct? just follow the instructions and see if it still gives you issues. If that doesn't work, turn wireless net zero back on and try disabling the other network manager that is associated with the network card. You can always turn it back on if there are any issues. Post back when you can.

Sorry for this... I kinda messed it up again. I reset the router. All works fine, apart from the wireless... It says its connected all the time... and there is no internet there. If I connect it through a wire, it will then work. I'll still try your action, but I'm not sure it will work now...

What is the make and model of the router?

Is it a router and modem combo?

Or separate router and separate modem?

Ermm.... I think we have a router modem combo... and then attached to that a router... Which is what I'm trying to get the wireless from. I am plugging my cord into the router at the moment. That is obviously plugged into the router/modem combo.
The Router/Modem Combo I think is a DrayTek Vigor2800G
The other Router is a Netgear WGT624 v3

Does that make any sense to you? I may have set it up wrong when I reset it. I'm not sure though.
