The most common reasons for this are: 1. out of date drivers and 2. Loose Wiring (external or internal), try these and write back

alright well ive done software runs on it and its not out of date so i guess i'll check loose wiring...

Wow Really! , the cheapest DVD R/W drive I found was $40AUD, but that was from a retail vendor
