I know this is dumb, but I recently installed a downloaded trial version of Apollo DVD Copy 4.8.35.
Immediately after installing the software my DVD drive does not recognise blank DVD's but it will read / write to blank CD's and will read already burnt DVD's from the same stock of DVD's I have been using.
It is NOT a media issue. I have burnt a number of DVD's already from the same spindle of 50 blanks I brought a while ago.
I have tried a system restore to a point before installing the Apollo software - no luck.
Have run the Microsoft ATS CD/DVD repair but no luck with this either.
The machine is a Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop, approx 6 months old.
I stupidly thought this was a one off issue and tried the software on a HP Probook 4520S notebook and got the same problem, except the HP wont even read any DVD's any more, but will still read / write CD's.
I have considered flashing the Toshiba DVD drive but can't find any firmware that works.
The Toshiba Drive is TS-L633C, the HP drive is TS-L633N. Have looked on firmwarehq.com and found a Firmware link for the Toshiba but when run it says no suitable drive found.
DVD stock is Transonic DVD+R but this is not the problem as I have been using these discs with both machines.
Have run the Nero DVD Info tool. Report for the HP Probook as follows:
Nero InfoTool 5.3.3.0

The drive is showing in the Device Manager which says the drive is working properly. Have tried to update the drivers from here but it says my drivers are up to date after an online search.
I am completely stuck on this so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
