If I posted this in the wrong place, I apologize. I am new here.

I am on my mom's computer right now. I have windows 98SE. Last night my computer decided to restart itself & when it did it looked like it had gone into safe mode. The mouse won't work unless I am in safe mode, I don't even see the arrow. I ran ad-aware, spybot s&d & anti-virus. I ran anti-virus 4 times & the 4th time it found something. I am not sure what it is but it said it was a trojan horse.

This is what it brought up about it.
C:\windows\system\rzcrt4.dll
win32:startpage-100 [trj]

What is that? Is that what made my computer mess up? And how do I fix this?

Please help me fix my computer! Thanks in advance!

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:
http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe
Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

The instructions for a HijackThis log can be found here:

My mistake. :tazz:

Please download:
http://www.downloads...VX2Finder9x.exe

Disconnect from the Internet, close as many programs as you can.
Run VX2Finder9x.exe by doubleclicking it.
click find "VX2sbetterinternet"
If any files are found, click make log and post it later,
continue by clicking "user agent" dont be alarmed it will restore the proper one.

Click"restore desktop" if available don't be alarmed, the desktop will disappear then reappear again

Next hit "import reg" then exit the tool

Then its best to restart your PC, you might have to re-arrange your
task-bar and quick-launch toolbar.
Post a Hijackthis log.

Download: DelDomains.inf
Should the link above display the text instead of downloading the file, then copy & paste the text into notepad and save the file as DellDomains.inf
To use: right-click and select: Install (no need to restart)
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges" also.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O16 - DPF: {FC67BB52-AAB6-4282-9D51-2DAFFE73AFD0} - http://download.spys...rCabInstall.cab

Then reboot and post a new log.

I got it to download but I can't get it to install. It said it cannot find rundll.exe but it is there cause I checked.

When I restart it says "cannot find kernel32.dll:ActivateActCtx"

You did save it as a .inf file right?

Please open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd > OK )

Then type this command behind the prompt:

ASSOC .inf=inffile

Then rightclick DellDomains.inf and choose install again.
