I have just installed XP sp3 on new hard drive. I downloaded Freefile viewer which came with unexpected extra programes so I uninstalled free file viewer but as the extra programmes had no uninstall with them I did a system restore to get rid of them. Now every time I start computer I get Device Monitor has encountered an error and is closing. How do I get rid of this ??

"Device Monitor" is not part of Windows so my guess is it's a third-party application, possibly the software supplied with a Lexmark printer.
If you have a Lexmark printer, uninstall it (including driver & any Lexmark software) then restart PC. Now re-install the printer as per Lexmark's instructions.
