So here is what happens. I attempt to boot up BlackOpsRcon.exe (a tool provided by steam to manage your black ops game server) and it gives me a .NET 2.0 Runtime Error. I have no clue how to fix this.

I do know that I currently have:
.NET 1.1
.NET 2.0 SP2
.NET 3.0 SP2
.NET 3.5 SP1
.NET 4 Client profile

Could it be conflicting issues with the other .NETs? Currently I am using windows XP SP3.

I see there are some issues with the steam version of the tool that sometimes occurs due to xml file corruptin. Lets simplify our troubleshooting. Lets try the stand alone version of the tool:

Download the rcon tool from here:
http://www.fpsadmin....?do=file&id=151
Extract to a folder on your hard drive.
Run the BlackOpsRcon.exe to launch the tool.

Let me know if you have the same issue.

Ok, that means that it is not the program. Lets take a look at dot net.

I recommend that we uninstall and reinstall dot net 2.0. You should be able to do this independent of tbe other dot net installations. To aid you, I found a kb article that will walk you through the steps;

Just letting you know, I will not be able to do this until Thursday.

I do have one question though. At the very end of the instructions, it asks if I want to "obtain the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86) or (IA64)" Which one would I choose?

I would assume x86.

Very sorry for the late reply. There was a power outage in my neighborhood.

In the article you gave me it says to "Right-click the cached Windows Installer file that has the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 RTL x86 enu comment, and then click Repair."

I do not see that comment on the list.

Alright, it won't let me uninstall it and says that: "it will affect other applications that are installed"

ok, lets just move on. Locate where you downloaded the .net 2.0 redistribute file.

# Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.

# At the command prompt, run the following command:

%InstallationPath%\dotnetfx.exe /t:%temp% /c:"msiexec.exe /fvecms %temp%\netfx.msi"

install path is where your dotnetfx.exe is found. for example

c:\dotnetfx.exe /t:%temp% /c:"msiexec.exe /fvecms %temp%\netfx.msi"

I couldn't download the redistributable file because it says that I have a newer version of .NET installed and it would conflict with current versions.
