We are running Windows 2000 and Symantec 8.0. On one of the clients the Symantec won't scan the C drive correctly. It scans the boot sector then says 'complete' with '0 files scanned'. I tried re-installing Symantec but no improvement. I'd be grateful for any input.

Thanks.

Try an online scan to see if you have anything which blocks anti-virus programmes running

Panda Scan

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran the scan and it detected 9 infected files. However it didn't report disinfecting any of them. It says that the files are spyware that ActiveScan can't disinfect. The names are:

Adware/WhenUSearch
Adware/SaveNow
Adware/ClockSync

Could these be the cause of my original problem? And now that I've found them, how do I get them off? If I could get the Symantec to work maybe it would do its job!
