Dell Inspiron 7500 running Windows 2000 SP 4 with Matshita UJDA 310 DVD/CD-RW drive will not consistently write and read backups or file copies. I am using Direct CD 5.3.5.10p by Roxio. If I insert a new Memorex CD-RW 700 MB cd in the drive, the system requires that I format the CD before using. If I format the CD, I can backup files and copy files to the CD. After a few uses, the CD either shows no free space available and/or displays the CD as a UDFREADER or the CD drive will never quit spinning.

Please help.
