Hi,

My antivirus was telling me that my explorer.exe and wininit.exe were infected with a trojan, so I thought replacing them with a clean copy would solve the problem (rather then my av's idea of just deleting them, which isn't very helpful).

I got a copy of explorer.exe from another Vista machine and replaced my copy of the file but explorer.exe now won't run at all, it keeps bringing up an error to do with SHELL32.dll (I can't remember the exact error at the moment as I am not on that machine).

Is there anywhere I can get a copy of explorer.exe that will work with my system, and if not, can I create a recovery disk, and would this be able to restore a working version of explorer.exe onto my computer?

Thanks.

Let the antivirus program delete the virus.

Try MSE free antivirus.
