I have a dell Dimension 5150 with XP Professional. I had to reinstall windows and now need to install the drivers which I don’t have. I know I need to go to the dell website and download them, but there are so many I’m not sure which ones and how to install them. I can’t connect to the internet and when I go to the device manager I can’t find the NIC card. There are a lot of yellow question marks too.
A couple of weeks ago I took the computer to Staples for a diagnostic. I was told the plug for the graphics card was no good (on motherboard), so I got a Galaxy graphics card to replace the bad plug. I starting to think this may be causing a conflict. Is this possible?

Thanks for the help!!

What is the service tag number for your system?
Should be on a sticker on the bottom or back of the system. This will ensure the newest drivers for your system. ;)
Is your internet wired or wireless since this will make a difference which driver you get also.

If you go HERE
and expand the Network category you will see 4 drivers. If wired you want the next to the last one since it is the newest for wired connections.

OK go HERE
Scroll down to the network area and you will see 3 drivers. You want the middle one that shows version number 8.0.15.0, A01 with the date of 11\15\2005

Hate to butt in, but .....Do you still have the yellow question marks?

when I go to the device manager I can’t find the NIC card. There are a lot of yellow question marks too.

Please Go to

1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's

In your next reply please include those results

Most likely it is the modem.
Look in the Communications area and it is the last driver there with the following information
Date 10\25\2005 Version 7.06.00.A02
