Please help me. I play an online game called WarRock. It was made by G1 (GamersFirst). At first, I could play it normally, and since yesterday, I'm getting a weird message throwing out. It only does it when I'm playing WarRock. I've read some topics on this forum, and I saw that I should install WhoCrashed to see what happened, so I did. Here is the information:

On Fri 26.11.2010 15:14:26 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini112610-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: nv4_disp.dll (nv4_disp+0x24116E)
Bugcheck code: 0x1000008E (0xFFFFFFFFE0000001, 0xFFFFFFFFB83D8925, 0xFFFFFFFFB3BFE878, 0x0)
Error: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\nv4_disp.dll
product: NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 Display driver, Version 258.96
company: NVIDIA Corporation
description: NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 Display driver, Version 258.96
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode program generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nv4_disp.dll (NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 Display driver, Version 258.96 , NVIDIA Corporation).
Google query: nv4_disp.dll NVIDIA Corporation KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M

This is it. What happens is next:

First, I play normally without having any trouble at all. Then, it starts to lag a little. In about 5 minutes of playing, all colors on the game change, names fade out and my computer like, just shuts down, and on a blue screen, it says:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xE0000001, 0xB83D8925, 0xB3BFE878)

Then it says that there are some problems with: "watchdog.sys".

Please help me, I'm quite desperate. :-(

Most likely caused by the nvidia driver.
Did you recently update the driver before the BSOD's started?
What is the model of your video card and what version of drivers are you using?
Are you using the catalyst control center for your video? If so is it by chance the 10.2 version?
If so I suggest uninstalling and go back to the 9.11 or 9.12 version.

Can you boot into normal mode at all?
Have you tried to boot to the Advanced Boot Menu and choosing Start with last known good configuration that worked?
This will usually fix the problem.
What about trying to boot to safe mode?

In the last configuration that worked, it doesnt work. Same thing happens as otherwise. In safe mode, I cant even launch the game, so I guess I wont find that out anytime soon xD Any other things to try?

Safe Mode won't allow you to run the game since it is using a generic video driver and not the nvidia driver.
Let's get some information about the card.

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

It got at least part of the info I was looking for.

NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

OK going to try two different ways here
HERE is the main drivers page for your card. Try option 2 and see if it gives you the most recent driver for your card.
You may have to put the drop down window info needed as followed from top to bottom if it is not already there.
  • GeForce
  • GeForce 8 Series
  • GeForce 8500 GT
  • Windows XP
  • English or if they have your language use that

Once downloaded the driver to your Desktop, then you will have to go to Device Manager and expand the video driver part step 1 in picture below.
Step 2 right click on the driver and tell it to update the driver. When it asks where to look then point it to the driver you downloaded on your desktop.
Let me know if it works or any error message you get.

Hmm.. I seem to need some further help here... Sorry, I am not very experienced in computers xD. So, I open the Device Manager. Now I search for video driver, but it doesnt say that anywhere... Any hint or a tip?

Sorry I forgot the pic to show you.

Thanks, I think I did it now... But it doesnt ask me to look anywhere... I click on it, then select "Yes, this time only." when it asks me if I allow Windows to connect to Windows Update.. Then I put the Recommended option, to install the software automatically. Should I change one of these options or something?

You should change it to look in a specific place. Then point it to the file you downloaded earlier hopefully to your desktop.
