I'm still getting things cleaned out but not able to get online to go to the housecall site. Also when I use adware I end up with processes that won't delete.

Do you have any internet connection? Or can you just not run the housecall virus scan? There are several other virus scans.

http://www.pspl.com/
http://terainnovations.com/ ViruScape

I need you to generate a listing of all the programs that automatically start on your computer. HijackThis has a built in tool that will allow you to do this.

In order to do this go into the Config option when you start HijackThis, and then click on the Misc Tools button at the top.

You will then click on the button labeled "Generate StartupList Log". Once you click that button, the program will automatically open up a notepad filled with the Startup items from your computer. Copy and paste these entries along with a new hijack this log. :tazz:

Download the following file:

http://castlecops.co.../FindIt9xME.zip

and unzip the contents to a folder. When it has unzipped, open that folder and double click on Find.bat. It will run for a while, so be patient, and then produce a log (ignore any File not found messages on the screen, it should continue anyway).

Please copy and paste that log here.

Please Download CoolWebShredder, from http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=17 , Extract it & run the program. Click the Next Button & let it scan. Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants. Afterwards, Please Post a fresh Hijack This log.

Go to start>>run>> and type in msconfig

Look for these three entries and uncheck them.

IPUB32.EXE
WINIT32.EXE
NETNI32.EXE

If they are not there, let me know and we will go into the registry and clean them out.

go into task manager again and uncheck them.

Run Hijack This and put check marks next to these:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = ftp=localhost:8081;http=localhost:8081
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: Class - {7894A691-EB61-0404-F516-708711955C39} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\APIYM32.DLL (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPUB32.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\IPUB32.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [WINIT32.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\WINIT32.EXE /s
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [NETNI32.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NETNI32.EXE /s
O4 - Startup: STRINGS.EXE

REboot into safe mode and find these files and delete them.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\APIYM32.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\IPUB32.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\WINIT32.EXE /s
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NETNI32.EXE
strings.exe

If you've already downloaded a trojan scanner, run it now.

empty your temp. files or run cleanup! if you've already downloaded it. Reboot and post a new log.

I am not sure how to get into task manager. Is it when I msconfig? Did you want me to check them back ? I had already unchecked them.
I was a little confused about rebooting into safe mode to delete the files as I was not sure where to look.
Is norton a trojan scanner? If not I don't think I have one. Any suggestions?
go into task manager again and uncheck them.
I was wondering your thoughts about not being able to find tcp/ip
I also added another reply after this

thanks again
