Hello
Novice person here, so not very good on tech terminology.
I have read other threads regarding removal of this security tool, but do not seem to find answer I need.
I need help please with my daughers netbook, which is xp and runs internet explorer.
She has developed this security tool, which just keeps popping up and stopping her downloading anything at all. Also stops her going into her progammes to try to remove it as well.
With the netbook not allowing any downloads, I cannot get the removal tool to work.
What I have tried is to download the removal tool to my laptop, and then transfer it across to netbook via memory stick.
This has still not worked (unless of course I am missing something that you might be able to tell me).
I have tried to take the netbook back to another store point, but wont let me do that either.
If someone could help me on this matter, I would be very grateful. Or if you feel I should maybe take netbook into PC World for them to have a look at it, please let me know.
I am writing this from my laptop not netbook.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

If this doesn't work, do you have a blank CD?

On your clean computer download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.

Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you run it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

Note: If using Firefox right-click on any download links and choose Save As

Please download OTH to your flash drive
Please download OTL to your flash drive

Then, put the flash drive in your infected computer.

Double click the OTH file to run it and click Kill All Processes, your desktop will go blank.

Then select Start OTL. OTL will now run

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

  • Click the Internet Explorer button, post these logs in your Virus Removal topic.

Hello Mitch8

Thank you ever so much for your reply that was very kind.
Since posting this problem, I have managed to to solve it thank you (or hope so, looking good for now).
I have however, cleaned my usb stick as you have stated from your site, as this I did not think to do, But luckily my laptop is still ok.
If the netbook does go again, I will be back to you, but for now thank you very much.
