Can you start it up by accessing it from Start > Programs > Avast and then disabling it that way?

I can not find a way to disable it / Can I stop the process through windows security? or Task manager?

You end the process via the Task manager.

I am so scared to mess with the task manager . What if I disable the wrong thing? Not sure which one is it just know it is not that good with this, is why want to take classes.

If you see any of these processes in the Task Manager go ahead and end them:
ashServ.exe
ashMaiSv.exe
ashWebSv.exe
aswUpdSv.exe
ashServ.exe

See if ComboFix is able to run leaving Avast alone. If not then we may need to uninstall temporarily.

ComboFix warning box states that it is detected and advises that Avast Antivirus 4.8.1368 (VPS 101129-1) be disabled (scanner) because could lead to unpredictable results.

I tried to click "X" to close the warning box, only to get another warning box which I have left open on the computer
It tell me to continue at my own risk - because it detects avast... so not clicking anymore boxes leaving open waiting for you.
