I've been looking around to solve a friend's popup problem and found this forum, and all the information on HijackThis logs. Needless to say, I ran it against my system to see what I could find.
Now, I don't have a problem with my HJT log, but I WOULD like to know what the entry about

(vxiewer control) - http://www.thepaymen...ild/vxiewer.cab

is all about. I've done a google search, and all I get are 100's of entries where it is appearing in people's HTJ logs!

I've tried going directly to theypaymentcentre.com web site, but it is blocked.

Anyone know what it is?

Is this an O16 entry? If so, go ahead and fix it. If it's needed by a site or application in the future you'll simply be prompted to download the plugin.

Yes, it is an o16....

O16 - DPF: {037B3D58-D14A-4C41-BDFD-BD779B0B97BA} (vxiewer control) - http://www.thepaymen...ild/vxiewer.cab

I'm happy enough to delete it & see if it occurs again, but I was just interested to know where it had come from and what it was doing there in the first place.

The name looks like it ought to be something related to things like paypal... but then again it could aslo be some dodgy bit of code for charging me for things I don't know about. (.... but then it couldn't do that without some account details). <_<

thepaymentcentre.com is similar to PayPal, but from my experience they deal with the seedier side of the Internet, including porn sites, etc.

It can't charge you for anything without your knowledge and consent. <_<

Well, as far as I know I've not been buying stuff from seedy web sites, so clearly I can do without it cluttering up my system.

Thanks for the information - just what I needed.

<_<
