I am new to the "fix-computer" zone. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. I have attempted to get rid of several infections to no avail. I think an expert's help is really needed!
Thanks in advance! :tazz:

cwilson,
Welcome to the GTG Forums, I will be reviewing your HJT log.
Please read through all of the instructions before proceeding:
You may want to print out these instructions for a reference.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
Nailfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
SafeMode Help

Once in SafeMode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd.
Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Now scan with HijackThis and place a checkmark next to the following items:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.seekerbar...spx?tb_id=50154
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - (no file)

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

O16 - DPF: {421A63BA-4632-43E0-A942-3B4AB645BE51} - http://download-ak.s...stemsoappro.cab
O16 - DPF: {640B39C1-D713-464F-92C3-75BD972B95EE} - http://download.side...00719/sb028.cab

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan by using Add Reply

Thanks,

Thank you so much for checking this. ;)

cwilson,
Please read these instructions before proceeding:

[1.]
First Download CWShredder
And save it to your desktop.
Close all open browser windows and any other open windows.

Install CWShredder, then:

Open CWS and click Check for Updates
Then click "FIX"

[2.]
Please run at least one of these online scans, allow it to delete anything it finds:
You may have to select the auto-fix option prior to scanning, it should be a selection box on the screen. If you are a dial-up user just do one, this can take some time.
If you are a broadband user, I would suggest at least 2 of the 3. One extra scan is most often times enough.TrendMicro HouseCall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
Panda ActiveScan
Please make a note of anything that wasn't or couldn't be fixed.
Reboot your machine when finished.

[3.]
You may have run these programs already, make sure they are up to date and run per provided instructions.
Current Versions are:
Spybot S&D Ver: 1.3 Download Here
Ad-Aware SE Build 1.05 Download Here

Download and install both Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE.

Instructions:

Spybot S&D:
Go to your Start Menu >> Programs >> Spybot S&D >> then choose Spybot S&D.

*Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
*Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
*Close Spybot then launch it again

cwilson,

Can you please post back a new HJT log, the last one was incomplete.

Once you save the scan to notepad, do the following:
In Notepad select
Edit | Select All
Edit | Copy
Then using Add Reply Paste the entire contents of the log here.

You can do this by clicking Ctrl+V and it will paste the entire contents here.

Thanks,
rstones12

cwilson,

First is your Anti-Virus Program up to date?

Please read through all of the instructions before proceeding:
You may want to print out these instructions for a reference, we will be booting into SafeMode and you wont have access to the Internet.

We need to do a few things so please follow them in order as they are posted.

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Please download Pocket Killbox
Click Here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit.
Unzip the program and save it to your desktop, dont run it just yet.

Enable show hidden files and folders:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Please disconnect from your Internet Connection, this mean physically removing the cable from the router or modem.

Scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to the following items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - (no file)

Now go to Start | Control Panel | Add Remove Programs
Remove the following entries if found or any variation.

180Solutions
WinTools

Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker

Using Windows Explorer find and remove the following folders/files if present:
C:\Program Files\CSBB\ <-- Folder
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe028.dll <-- File
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\ <-- Folder
C:\program files\180search assistant\ <-- Folder
C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\ <-- Folder

Now lets run Killbox
  • Double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
  • In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
  • In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below ONE AT A TIME (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure!):

C:\WINDOWS\av.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qwye.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ahkh.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qayetle.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lshosts32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pvdoxjbs.exe
C:\windows\system32\mvwuek.exe
C:\WINDOWS\gnahaz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ziyrrd.exe
  • Press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it after each one.
  • When it asks if you would like to delete on reboot, press the YES button, when it asks if you want to reboot now, press the NO button.
  • Do this after each one until you have entered the LAST file path I have listed above.
  • After that LAST file path has been entered, press the YES button at both prompts so that your computer restarts.
  • If you receive a message and your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.
If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Once you have rebooted into Normal Mode:

Start CleanUp
When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
Uncheck cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea.
Click OK
Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
When asked to reboot system select No
Close CleanUp

Reboot your system then post back a new HJT log by using Add Reply
You can now reconnect to your Internet Connection.

Thanks,

OK.. That was a little easier than the last, however, I couldn't find the folders or files using windows explorer. ALSO..There were a couple of items not on the HJT scan so I could not delete them RO-HKCU\Software\microsoft
internet explorer\toolbar,linksfoldername... was one
Also couldn't find R3-URLSearchHook:....
I have another question that you might be able to answer...Why does my System32 folder open when I boot up? I can't find it in startup. Does this mean there's a problem in the file?
Thanks again for your help. I haven't seen any aurora popups lately! :tazz:

cwilson,
OK, lets try a different approach:

Scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to the following items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - SOFTWARE - (no file)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [] c:\WINDOWS\System32\
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [JavaUpdate0.07] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ziyrrd.exe

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {6685509E-B47B-4f47-8E16-9A5F3A62F683} - file://C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\Sy350\Tp350\scri350a.htm (file missing) (HKCU)

Close all browsers and open windows except HJT, then click the Fix Checked button.

Reboot into SafeMode

Using Windows Explorer find and remove the following folders/files if present:
You have to double click on your C:\ drive icon and go the folder to find these folders and file to remove:
C:\Program Files\CSBB\ <-- Folder
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe028.dll <-- File
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WinTools\ <-- Folder
C:\program files\180search assistant\ <-- Folder
C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\ <-- Folder

Please run Killbox.exe that you saved to your desktop
  • In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
  • In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below ONE AT A TIME (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure!):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ziyrrd.exe
  • Press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it after each one.
  • When it asks if you would like to delete on reboot, press the YES button, when it asks if you want to reboot now, press the NO button.
  • Do this after each one until you have entered the LAST file path I have listed above.
    Reboot your system.

    Run the CleanUp program
Reboot your system and post back an new HJT log by using Add Reply

Thanks,
rstones12

cwilson,
Your log is looking better. We need to do a couple of things.

Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop: http://forums.net-in...=post&id=142443

1. Unzip/extract the files inside to a folder on your desktop.
2. Open the folder and run FindIt's.bat and wait for notepad to open a text file. It may take awhile so please be patient ...
3. Then post the results here along with a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Please try not to reboot until I check the contents of the Findit log...

Thanks,
rstones12

cwilson,
OK we need to take care of some issues:

Please reboot into SafeMode:

Now lets run Killbox
  • Double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
  • In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
  • In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below ONE AT A TIME (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure!):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\DIYYTGJ.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\IAGOLD.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\SIAE3123.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\BS_L.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\IN10B6.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\SHAGEN~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LRNXP.ICO
  • Press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it after each one.
  • When it asks if you would like to delete on reboot, press the YES button, when it asks if you want to reboot now, press the NO button.
  • Do this after each one until you have entered the LAST file path I have listed above.
  • After that LAST file path has been entered, press the YES button at both prompts so that your computer restarts.
  • If you receive a message and your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.
Run the CleanUp program

Reboot and post back a new HJT log and a new Findit log by using Add Reply

Thanks,
