I purchased a Pioneer internal DVD/Cd writer 22X (Pata). When I plugged it in, my computer won't boot up, it gives me a error on the black screen. Drive not recognized. I made sure that the jumper on the back was in the same position as the old drive burner. Then I tried all the other positions with the jumper, still the same error. Any ideas? Maybe I have to configure it somehow.

Sounds like a bad/dead/flaky burner. If it's new, I'd return it.

New PATA/IDE CD/DVD burners start at $18.99 -- with Free shipping -- at Newegg.com: http://www.newegg.co...deId=1&name=IDE

(And SATA starts a couple bucks cheaper at $16.99 -- with Free shipping http://www.newegg.co...e=Free Shipping)
