When I try to connect to Itunes store through my itunes I get the message: "I tunes could not connect to the Itunes store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again". I have switched off my firewall and anti virus and I am connected to the internet, but the problem persists.

Can you update to the newest version of iTunes? You diagnostics show that you are running 8.0 as opposed to the newest v10. You can go to Start -> Programs and look for Apple Software Update. That will scan your system and update all the Apple components. Also, now that you have your 3rd party firewall off, can you also try disabling the Windows Firewall?
