Windows Vista Home
HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop ~3 years old
So, last night I shutdown my laptop as usual before bed. When I woke up today and turn on the computer, it loads up as usual, gets to my login screen, where I select my "user" and enter my password.
Then, the computer goes to the "Welcome" screen and just stays there, stuck, and never continuing on.
I've restarted a million times, but, to no avail.
So next, I start in Safe mode, and try to get to System Restore. Safe mode works, and loads up, but when I try to click on anything, the entire computer freezes up and I'm stuck again. I was able to open command prompt and enter the thing to open restore from that, but I did so, and nothing happened. When I go to "Start" then "search" and look up system restore, I click it, and nothing happens. It never opens - nothing at all.
So lastly, I try to button smash F11 when the computer is starting so I can open System Recovery. Again, no luck. I hold it down, nothing it happens, I button smash, nothing happens, but eventually, the computer beeps at me like 10 times, then goes onto the next screen to ask me if I want to start in safe mode or start windows normally - What the...!!
I really don't want to wipe my computer, but I'm also completely stuck. I've never been stuck like this before, so if anyone has any ideas as to what can be done, I'd appreciate it. I don't even have a blank disc handy as I'm kind of out of town, so if I can avoid doing anything with discs, that would be nice too.
