Basically after using a large program (which can be anything really but the bigger the faster laptop slows down)
the Laptop slows down noticeably and the longer the laptop is used the slower it gets until its basically unusable, I most often use google chrome to play Tribalwars.net and laptop slows down after maybe 5-10 minutes and becomes unusable after about 15 minutes or so depending on what programs are used.

I think its a problem with the cpu because I opened taskmanager when it had slowed down, and it showed taskmanager using up to 100% Cpu with other things fighting it for some space, I can totally slow my computer to unusable extremely quickly if I use the Runescape Game client (very Cpu intensive for this laptop)

I'm not totally sure what else I need to say, I'm using a toshiba satellite pro 4600, connecting to internet using an Netgear WG511V2 Internet card, always using a power adapter, also this is a fresh copy of windows XP except for google chrome and Runescape Game client (a Internet Game)

Sorry for the delay, please do the following steps and include the requested logs in your next reply.

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop.
7: Attach to your next reply.

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

First issue I see is:

System Memory 512 MB (SDRAM)

Though this may have worked in the past the addition of more programs and the increase in your Autoruns maybe slowing the system down. I would suggest increasing your ram memory to at least 1 gig if possible.
Go to HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system.
You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

I don't see the Autoruns log attachment.

Also could you please do the following.
Go to Start then to Run
Type in compmgmt.msc and click Enter
On left side click on Disk Management
On right side you will see you hard drive.
Now I need you to take a screenshot and attach it to your next reply. Do the following to take a screenshot while the above is open and showing on your desktop.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop

Attach it to your next reply

will do, I'll need to do this later tonight or tomorrow, and a repair or upgrade is out of the question at the moment as I literally have no money of my own, and not much money extra coming in anytime soon, it might be worth noting that this started to happen after a repair.

I didn't use my laptop for possible 2 months then got the recharge slot repaired (Back of laptop) and when I got it back I noticed it was extremely slow after a while of use

also it is saying
"Error You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file"
when I try to upload the autoruns log

Open the file and then just go to the top and click on File the Save As and save as txt file.
Then it should attach with no problem.

Heres the autoruns thing, and as I said I can't upgrade or fix anything right now so even a temporary fix would be good

Well your problem is evident to me at least what is going on.
Your whole OS is installed on a
C: (NTFS) 4502 MB (2034 MB free) 4 gig partition with only 2 gigs of free space.
According to Microsoft this is the minimum requirements:

At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk

You are not allowing really any expansion for your OS not to mention the lack of space slows your system down a lot also.
Match that with the amount of total memory you have at 512 of which the OS alone uses 256 megs of memory totally to itself This leaves only 256 megs of memory for the other operations of the system. Knowing this is a laptop means that the video is sharing at least 64 megs of that memory which leaves only 192 megs free for programs, autoruns and msconfig startups and services.
I understand that may have worked in the past but overtime as you ad programs and your autoruns and startups increase the amount of available memory is decreased dramatically.
First thing i would recommend is looking into increasing your memory to 1 gig total.
Go to HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system.
You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

Next steps I would like to take is to try and free up some space by cleaning out the temp, cache, browser cache and doing a thorough defrag. We can try to accomplish this by following the next two steps in order to assure the maximum results.

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
  • Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
  • Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
  • Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because:

It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging
It will actually show you what it is doing
At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up
You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged
Please do not run any other Auslogics programs other then this one as they may cause unwanted results.

I will do that but are you aware that I'm running a fresh install of windows? also the speed is good enough at startup, it will never be a supercomputer but it does run well, the problem is it slows down when a program large program is run, for instance any browser game, flash anything that uses and reuses the computer again and again
