Hi there geeks, I would be ever so grateful if you could help me out with something...

I'm having problems when in (or trying to get into) secure parts of websites, such as checking out when I've done some shopping.

I have another PC plugged into this one, using the same connection - so I know that the problem must lie in this PC, coz the other one can get to the checkout and works perfectly well .

What happens is that I either get "This page cannot be displayed." or the page doesn't change at all. The status bar at the bottom fills up very quickly and disappears, but nothing happens on the screen. I've tried turning off Norton Internet Security and also the Windows ICF and accepting all cookies and IE6 security settings set to low.

It did used to work, because I'm having problems buying things from a site that I've not long since ordered things from.

<_<

Thanks for any advice

Try this - with all browser windows closed, Go to Start->Run and copy and paste each of the following, hitting ok after each:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
Reboot, then try to access the sites that were giving you problems again.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Internet Explorer Settings. To do this:

1. In IE, go to "Tools", then "Internet Options "
2. Click the "Programs" tab at the top.
3. Hit the "Reset Web Settings..." button near the bottom
4. You can save your current homepage by unchecking the box "Also reset my homepage"
5. Press "Yes" to confirm, restart and see if that clears things up

Thanks - we're almost there now!

My shopping website appears to be OK now, but I still have a problem with a particular website where I log in and the page just does not change.

Funnily enough though, if I click on some other links, it appears that I have logged in, but not visibly like on my other PC.

All very strange, though I have a work-around now! Thanks again. If you've got any other ideas (could pop-up blockers etc. cause this sort of thing?) I would be grateful to hear them?!

Best wishes to you all

No - because it asks me to log in when I try and do anything!

Try emptying your temporary Internet files.

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.
