Just a couple of days ago, I've been getting some popups, and my computer has been running slower. I see this aurora window trying to open up sometimes at the bottom. I don't know if that's the problem, but I never used to see that before. But I don't know where to start. Is there any safe way to get rid of this?

Hi Rseed,

Please print out these instructions to make it easy to follow and to have access to them when you have to reboot your pc. Please read through them prior to commencing to do anything and if there is anything that you are unsure of, or do not understand, please contact me first for assistance.

I would like you to carry out the following free on-line virus scan and follow their instructions on removal of anything that it may find.

Panda Active Scan

Next download a free 14 day trial of Ewido. Install it and follow the instructions to update it and then close it down.

Ewido

Download Cleanup, but do not run it yet

Cleanup

Now we go after the "Elite Toolbar".

A. Download the "Elite Toolbar" removal tool from HERE

Please note that this tool must be run in SAFE MODE

B. How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

C. Unzip LQFix and run LQFix.bat

D. After the program has completed its work, REBOOT your system if it doesn't ask you to.

Set PC to show hidden files (Click link below if you do not know how)

Show hidden files

Reboot into safe mode again, rescan with HJT and check the following entries if they exist:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
R3 - URLSearchHook: UB Class - {00000000-15D9-4736-AB29-131578A45F2B} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsrchc2.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [aqadcup] C:\WINDOWS\aqadcup.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zojqt] C:\WINDOWS\zojqt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [picsvr] C:\WINDOWS\System32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteues32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tvs_b] C:\program files\tvs\tvs_b.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msscp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [filemgmt] C:\WINDOWS\System32\filemgmt.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Nls - C:\WINDOWS\system32\q668lgju16o8.dll

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click FIX CHECKED.

Now using Windows Explorer, locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\aqadcup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zojqt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
C:\windows\system32\eliteues32.exe
C:\program files\tvs\tvs_b.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\filemgmt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\q668lgju16o8.dll

Now run Cleanup.

Now Run Ewido, click on the Scanner button, Select C drive if you have more than one and then start.

grab a cup of coffee, sandwiches, book as this may take some time. Once the first problem is detected ensure you tick the box for all (bottom left) and allow it to continue.

At the end of the scan, it may ask if you would like to delete anything found in archive or zipped files, OK that request, then click on save report. SAVE to the default location, it will then generate a text file. Copy that to post in this thread.

Reboot PC normally.

Carry out another HJT scan and post the log back here, so we can sort out any remnants

There were a couple of problems while trying to do all of this. The part where I was to delete things from Windows Explorer, I only found these files and deleted them:

C:\program files\tvs\tvs_b.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\filemgmt.exe

And these were the ones that I couldn't find:

C:\WINDOWS\aqadcup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zojqt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
C:\windows\system32\eliteues32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\q668lgju16o8.dll

The cleanup went well, but when I try to run Ewido, it stops in the middle of the scan.

Well, this is what I ended up with:

EWIDO DOES FREQUENTLY DO THIS BUT THEN RUNS ON ANOTHER ATTEMPT.

Please retry with Ewido in SAFE MODE, IF it fails again try one more time in SAFE MODE then if that fails try in normal mode.

If it does run, please carry out a fresh HJT LOG and post it back, together with the ewido log.

If it does not run, let me know

Hi Rseed,

Here go Round two....Ding Ding....let's come out fighting

I need you to copy all of the Killbox file paths below and paste them into Notepad. Save it to desktop

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsrchc2.dll
C:\WINDOWS\aqadcup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zojqt.exe
C:\program files\tvs\tvs_b.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\filemgmt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hrj8051ue.dll

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. *In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.

* Save it to your desktop.

Reboot PC into SAFE MODE by tapping the F8 key whilst it starts up, select SAFE MODE.

Now rescan with HJT and check the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
R3 - URLSearchHook: UB Class - {00000000-15D9-4736-AB29-131578A45F2B} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsrchc2.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zojqt] C:\WINDOWS\zojqt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tvs_b] C:\program files\tvs\tvs_b.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msscp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [filemgmt] C:\WINDOWS\System32\filemgmt.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Applets - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hrj8051ue.dll

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click FIX CHECKED.

* Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved the file paths earlier and copy the file paths to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Ok, the link to the killbox didn't work, so I got it from somewhere else, I hope it's the same. Since it didn't have the paste from clipboard feature, I deleted one by one.

But here's my log:

Hi rseed,

Sorry about the link, if you had messaged me i could have given you another link to the new version and saved you some work, but never mind it's done now.

Please carry out the following

Download L2mfix from this location:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Hmm, this link doesn't work. I don't want to look for it somewhere else, because I might get the wrong one. Do you have any other links?

Oh, isn't this an uninstaller though? I downloaded it, and tried to open it, and it just says: "No version of the application found to uninstall." Do you have any other links? I appreciate it.

OK for now,

reboot into SAFE MODE

Run HJT and check the following

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Extensions - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dnjq0115e.dll

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click FIX CHECKED.

Then using windows explorer delete the following file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dnjq0115e.dll

Reboot normally, rescan with HJT and post log back

Well, I didn't find those on neither HJT nor Explorer. But the Ewido guard popped up, and notified me of the look2me spyware, and so I cleared it. I don't know if that did anything.
