Hello

I have a website but I am also wanting to try php within my site however the version of Windows I am using doesn't have the feature I need and I don't really want to pay loads more £££ just to get one more feature so I am installing the server edition of ubuntu on a virtual machine. Now does anyone know how I can test the PHP validation and tell me how I can see the result my-self within this edition and tell me how to set it up? I am assuming I will need apache server for a start

This has been an incredible help for me in setting up my Ubuntu Server. Particularly the section on LAMP (Linux + Apache + MySql + PHP) Applications may be useful to you.

Good luck!

Basically just do
"sudo tasksel install lamp-server"
Do NOT do "tasksel remove lamp-server" under ANY circumstances! This WILL ruin your Ubuntu install! You HAVE been warned!

If you want to remove the LAMP stack, do this instead:

sudo apt-get remove apache2 apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-utils apache2.2-common libapache2-mod-php5 libapr1 libaprutil1 libdbd-mysql-perl libdbi-perl libmysqlclient15off libnet-daemon-perl libplrpc-perl libpq5 mysql-client-5.0 mysql-common mysql-server mysql-server-5.0 php5-common php5-mysql

P/s: Didn't notice that this was a dead thread. Posted anyway.
