I want to send a fax from my pc via the lan I'm connected to (not using my built in modem). I've searched the web for software or hardware that will allow me to send a fax over my lan. I seem to just keep getting suggestions to subscribe to an internet fax service. My particular lan is connected to a DSL modem that plugs into my plain old phone line. It seems that since I am plugged into the same line for both phone and internet that I should somehow be able to see both from my pc. Is this possible?

P.S. Can I use the autodialer (for phone calls) over my lan?

Note:All of the above works via my built in modem from my pc directly into a phone line (the same phone line my DSL modem is plugged into).

You need to use a dial-up modem to send faxes, it can't be done via a DSL router/modem. You can't dial anything over a DSL/LAN connection.
Faxing is an analog technology and needs an analog (dial-up) modem, DSL equipment is digital.
