I have just reformatted my desktop, I have had win 7 on it for quite a while now. When I attempt to load win 7 now I am ok till I get to the computer restart part,then instead of going on to complete the setup the message comes up "press any key to boot from dvd" I have left it for a considerable time to see if it loaded but it doesnt, if I press any key it starts the setup from the beginning again.
The interesting thing is I can load win xp without any problem.
Is this a bios setting problem

Strange indeed. I've re-installed Win7 on my tower PC twice with no problems. But I always delete the old system partition first, before I put a new copy of Windows back in the same place.

The only relevant BIOS setting is the first boot device must be set to CD-ROM as with all Windows CD/DVD installations, and you've obviously already done that.

Have you tried deleting the partition first to be sure of clearing all previous data on it, then installing Windows on the "unallocated space"? (Windows Setup will automatically format the unallocated space before installation starts).
