A friend of my wife's dropped of a dell inspiron E1505 which has BSOD stop code Stop 0x0000000A, I followed the instructions listed on the microsoft web site (use f8, then last known config), the machine reboots and works fine for a while then crashes back to the bsod.

The machine has avast antivirus on it and I get notified of a Rootkit error, just before the machine crashes.

I've run malwarebytes to clean the machine as well as a full scan with avast, after cleaning the rootkit error comes back and the machine crashes again
