Hi and thanks for all your help so far. Cant get system restore to work, keep saying there is an error. Please help

You should have posted this on the Windows Vista forum, Sarah. System Restore is part of the operating system, not an application as such.
Anyway, it's not unusual for SR to fail after it's finished (you get a message at the end, something like "System Restore was unable to restore your system. No changes have been made". That occurence is certainly not unusual.

Are you getting that or is SR just not starting at all?

Sorry 4 posting in wrong forum, no it just wont start atall.

Sorry you've been kept waiting - I've been very busy & if a post shows as having received a response already (as yours has), many members just ignore it because they assume it's been dealt with or they just leave it for the responder to deal with.

Have you tried starting Windows in 'safe mode' and tried running SR in that mode?
To start in 'safe mode', keep tapping the F8 key as soon as you turn on the PC.
You should get a screen called "Advanced Startup Options".
Using the up/down arrow keys, highlight "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with networking" then press <OK>

In safe mode, Windows will look very strange, icons too large etc., but don't worry as that's quite normal for safe mode.
