Hello, I am having an issue trying to access one specific website (http://www.3rdinf.us). Yesterday morning I was able to access the website just fine. My internet works just fine. Every other website I go to connects like it should. When I attempt to connect to the 3rdINF website, it says the connection reset. I also tried clearing my cookies, cache, temporary files and all that good stuff. I even tried flushing the DNS & resetting my modem, I am still having the same issue.

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
ISP: AT&T U-Verse

I ran a tracert via my command prompt:

Hi hayabusa_mike,

Seems you have done everything that I would have asked you to try except maybe try a different browser. Are you using IE8?

Try Firefox or another browser and see how that works. I had no trouble accessing the site myself.

Also, try it in Safe Mode with Networking just to verify that it is not your Firewall or AV, but I wouldn't go surfing the web due to being unprotected. If this just started all of the sudden, then to me sounds more like a DNS issue.

You didn't mention a router. Do you have one? If so, try re-setting that as well or connecting straight to the modem.

Let me know if you are using IE8. There have been issues reported on problems with 32-bit IE8 on Windows 7 64-bit.

Not saying that this is the case. Let's see if other members have had any experience with this and what they have to say about this.

I have IE8 on my computer, but I do not use it as my primary browser. I use Firefox. Although I have tried using Firefox, Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome to access the website and none of them will let me. My internet service uses a different type of technology, as far as I know a newer technology, using a modem to control everything, instead of having a router. The modem, controls my laptop and desktop's internet. So unless there is a router built into my modem I don't use one. I checked the control panel (192.168.1.254, modem control panel) for "router" specific settings, but I didn't find anything detailing about a router in there. There is firewall settings and stuff, but they're default as usual. I haven't changed anything. I was able to access the website just fine a couple days ago. I even talked with my ISP over the phone, the internet service is working as it should be. This is weird because it doesn't work for my laptop OR desktop. When I try to ping the site, it times out all 4 times. Everyone else can access and ping the website just fine as well as running a tracert just fine..

Screenshot of my "Firewall" tab area in my modem's control panel: http://img829.images...51/38076373.png

Update: I tried putting my computer into Safe Mode and it had no affect, still will not let me access the website.

Hm...did you try to access the site in Safe Mode with Networking?

In the meantime, I'll see what else I can find on this for you.

Mike,

Some of the information that I have found suggests that this could be associated with system files. Let's try a System Retsore to see if that is the case.

Go to Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Restore to date just before the 13th (such as the 12th or even the 11th) which is when you were able to access the site. Then try to access the site again.

Let me know what happens.

:D

PS:

Thanks for your time and effort.

You're welcome! ;) Anything to help a Soldier in his time of need.

I restored it to the 12th (earliest date I had). It isn't fixed. I didn't think it would seeing that it doesn't work on either laptop or desktop.

It's a different problem.
The connection last ended at po1.car11.hstntx2.networklayer.com [74.55.252.16
6]. So it mustn't be your computer that is causing the problem.
Have you asked your ISP about this ?

I was told two times on the phone and through live chat via the AT&T website the connection was fine.

My apologies, I completely overlooked that when I found that information.

devper94,

Thank you for your expertise. I'm not as experienced with tracerts as you are. Please continue. As you work your magic, this will be a great learning experience for me.

I am accessing the site just fine.
Maybe it's a temporary problem and should resolve itself soon.
You should try a proxy.

About the tracert output: You just read the IP addresses, then look them up with online tools. It is pretty easy, frankly.

Issue has been resolved, the hosting company for the website said there was just too many simultaneous connections from my ip to the server, so it was categorized as an attack to the site. Therefore the server's firewall blocked my IP. It has been now unblocked and fully resolved. Thanks for your time and effort.

(The website isn't an actual military website, it is a fan-based military website.)

(Yes I am an actual soldier though)
