Can I move everything from my c drive to my external hard drive?

I would like my external hard drive to be the main drive for my computer, I know how to move files but im not sure what to do. Is there a way I can do this?

Windows XP cannot boot from an external drive.

Your best bet would be to keep anything important document wise on the external drive as opposed to trying to use it as a boot drive.
