I am attempting to watch a DVD on my HP laptop (Windows Media Player). However every DVD I have tried has played the sound but not the video this even happened on a disc I watched a couple weeks ago. How can I fix this?

Additional info:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Turion™ 64 X2 TL-60
4.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA MCP67M
disc: DVD-R

(I don't know what additional information is needed so that is just some "in general" items I have difficulties understanding computers so I would appreciate an answer in as simple terms as possible.)
Thanks
