Footer page numbers aren't working

Basically from page 1 to 23 the page numbers work properly, but from page 24 on the page numbers reset and start at 1 again. Right now I'm merging a couple of documents into one document, so the problem may be with some sort of formatting issue.

Does anyone know why an error like this might have happened?

One possible cause of this problem is that you have a section break. You could highlight the page number on Page 24 which currently shows as 1 and from the MS Word pulldown menus > Insert > Page Numbers > Format > Continue From Previous List. This works in MS Word 2003. Good luck.
