Hello,
I just got a new hard drive - Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive. I installed windows 7 & LinuxMint 10 (duel boot). The first time it completely lost my windows 7. I tried again and it all seemed to be working perfectly but now windows 7 wont completely load. It goes to BSOD during startup (safemode aswell). Linux is still working fine. When I try to do windows repair utility (from the windows 7 installation disk) it can't find my operating system and sometimes says hard drive not detected. I will try installing both again but first I want to make sure its not a physical problem with my hard drive. I'm not sure how to check it but below I have posted my results from smartctl. Let me know if there are any other tests I should run. Keep in mind all I have access to right now is Linux. Thanks.

Run Seagate's Seatools on the drive. If it passes, fine. If not, RMA it.

Well, sorry you had a new drive fail. They all do eventually but it is even more frustrating when new I think. Seagate should not give you any hassles if you tell them it failed their own diagnostics.
