Apologies if this is not the right part of the forum or indeed this query is not supported on GTG but just in case someone can help me.

Sometime ago I upgraded my i Phone to 4.2.1 or whatever the latest version is with no problems. On my wife's i Phone some of the apps were not working (Shazam for example) and I had found that upgrading solved this. Today I volunteered to upgrade it for her. On clicking upgrade software it went off and decided to restore the phone so that it has wiped off all contacts, apps etc.

Is there somewhere on my PC where at least the contacts are stored? I am running XP by the way.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Hi
No I haven't so I know that is a) bad and b) terminal!

What is odd is that I asked for the software to be updated, I did this with my own i Phone with no problem. I happened to look at the progress and saw it was 'restoring' which I thought was odd. I also tried to restore from an earlier point which even told me it would 'only restore contacts etc not firmware' but it wouldn't do that either.

Anyway she has now retyped in the contacts and is busily uploading the apps again. In a way it is not too much of a problem as she wanted to change the songs on her phone, but perhaps not by that method!

ITunes should have had a pop up come up saying you need to backup your phone and/or transfer purchases to your iTunes library..it's weird that it didn't.
