I'll read your problem later. Promise. :tazz:

First I'd like to see a clean log.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E434D3C7-A673-4100-8140-79C020945017} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {53829F91-1B06-4DB9-B13E-812A986169F9} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr_.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Service Manager] C:\WINDOWS\userint32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Services Hosts] svhosts.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Lsass] C:\aight.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BggB.exe] c:\windows\system32\BggB.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Services Hosts] svhosts.exe

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Reboot into safe mode and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\userint32.exe

Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK
In the list of services find:
System Startup Service (SvcProc)
Rightclick that line and choose Properties.
On the General tab Stop and set the service to disabled.
In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT service
In the dialog box paste: SvcProc

A|nd I would like to advise you to uninstall:
ViewPointManager
under Add/Remove Software.

Hi Pieter:

I did everything you mentioned. Although, C:\WINDOWS\userint32.exe was displayed as C:\WINDOWS\userint32.ex$. I deleted it, but wasn't sure if it wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning.

Alright, here's the clean logfile:

Good job. :tazz:

Let's see if we can find what was reinfecting you.

Download the RKFiles.zip from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
1. Reboot into safe mode
2. Open the C:\Antispyware\RKFiles folder
* Locate and double-click the RKFILES.BAT to run this tool.
* Sit back and wait untill its finished.
* When it is finally finished a text file will open.
* Save the contents of that text file.
Note: It should save by default to C:\Log.txt
3. Reboot back to Normal Mode.
4. Post the log

How is the computer behaving?

Please have a look at my site for some tips on how to remove and prevent spyware.

hmmmm

What is that AAAAAAA thing?

Well, as far as I can tell the computer is acting fine. However, I haven't been using it much (except to do these repairs) and it has not been connected to the internet since the first indication of a trojan (which was when AIM started going crazy and everything went form there). I have been using my laptop and transfering the programs over to run.

I guess what I'm concerned about is that when I first ran the virus scan it came up with the Backdoor Trojan and said it took care of it and found nothing else. It was recommended to me that I run the "Trojan Remover" which found Apropop and Huntbar and it said it took care of those. Finally, I was told to run "The Cleaner" which found even more Huntbar. I don't understand how it did this? A few days later I ran The Cleaner again and it came up with more Huntbar. Was it multiplying even though not connected to the internet? How do I know it's not coming right back.

Lastly, a file poped up on my desktop called "backups" that I didn't create. It has multiple things in it, one has the description of "cpbrkpie ActiveX Control Module

If everything truely is gone for good I'll reconnect my cable modem turn up my Firewall protection and follow the recommendations on your site. In addition, I'm planning on downloading the FireFox Browser which I heard is the better alternative to IE, correct?

Thanks for fielding my paranoid questions :tazz:

The backups folder on your desktop was created by HijackThis
It contains the backups for the things we removed.

The AAA... belongs to the defrag program of Windows

Trojan Remover and The Cleaner are not the programs I'd normally use against spyware (Apropos and Huntbar) so it's hard to tell what they found and did.

As long as you keep an eye on your firewall and tighten up security you should be fine

So as of now I'm completely clean?

Can that backup file be deleted?

Hang on to it for a few days, just in case. :tazz:

Then if your computer is not complaining that something is missing delete the backups folder.

HI,

I was going through your page and running some more checks on my computer.
CWShredder now comes with SpySubtract. I ran a full scan and it found a bunch of spyware (CWShredder itself found nothing). When I went to delete everything I got the following message:

WARNING: Removal of the item 'sepsd.bin' may cause your system to shut down or become temporarily unstable.

PLEASE SAVE ALL OF YOUR WORK BEFORE PROCEEDING!

Do you still wish to continue ?

Should I remove this?

I'll wait for your response before continuing.

What I know about that file is that it is associated with Lycos SideSearch.
Not something to risk any crashes for.

I consider it harmless as long as the BHO is not present. And you don't have it.

Things don't look good. I was following the instructions on your website and was doing fine until I went to install IE-Spyad. When I went to go open my C:\ folder (which I noticed had a number of things in it I didnt recognize) a McAfee warning poped up saying that "The file C:\aight.exe was infected by the Generic Backdoor.c Trojan and has been deleted to complete the clean process. It suggested I run virus scan, which I did. Unfortunately it found ALOT:

C:\cxpls_loader.exe
PUP Name: Adware-Apropos

C:\Documents and Settings.....\Content.IE5\8HXYGA97\pcs_0009[1].exe
Trojan Name: Downloader-AAI

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{...A0353563.exe
Virus Name: W32/Opanki.worm (appears to be what caused AIM to go crazy)

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{...A0370662.exe
PUP Name: Adware-Ezula.dr

Those can be deleted.

One thing to do at the end of the process is to clean out your "dirty" System Restore Points.

To do that you have tor turn off System Restore, reboot and turn it back on.

Last night I deleted those after running the virus scan. Today, I turned off system restore by following those directions. Then, I tried to virus scan again in safe mode (wouldn't open in normal mode) and the scan found nothing. However, I know something is still on my system. Everything is running slow and my fan is going crazy. Can I manually delete those files in my C:\ drive? Or is that going to cause problems.

I thought I would run HijackThis again to see if that got us anywhere:
