Hello everyone.

In the past few days I've noticesd that when I boot up my system, the American Megatrends screen pops up for a few seconds saying "Default settings have been loaded due to BIOS or cheksum issue" After that, it goes onto load the computer as normal.

The comp seems normal even with this issue, but surely there's something wrong somewhere? if anyone can help, or explain how to correct this issue, I'd really appreciate it.

One other thing, when I switch on the mains prior to turning the computer on, it loads up by itself without me pressing the on button on the comp.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

P.S, Forgot to mention that I have ran full system scans on both Avira AntiVir and Malwarebytes and nothing found...

Dead CMOS battery. Does the date and time go back a few years every time this happens?
You need a new CMOS CR2032 battery, you can get them from anywhere for peanuts.

If you take the side of the case off, you'll see a battery somewhere on the board. It's this that needs replacing.

Thanks Neil! I was hoping it might be something simple like that. I'll go out today to see if I can get one, and let you know ow the installation goes! Is the CR2032 specific to my comp? Just wodnered how you knew which one I have to get/ask for.

And yep, the clock does go off everytime, so thanks for replying!

Cheers,

I have replace the battery with this error only happening once a week or so. Motherboard Gigabye GA-7VT600L with amd 1800+ processor, only 368 bites of corsair 3200 memory. I use this for old Arcade games like 1970 -1980 stuff. It was hard to getting the hole setup working but I finally did. I just get the Cmos bios error. I only use spyware when I connect to the internet which now is almost nil.
