I got fed up of my laptop overheating so I drilled out the vent blanks on the base under the fan.

Massively cooler. Running great.

But, the hdd is still hot. In the door/hatch there are some spaces in the metal lining the same as in the RAM hatch, is it safe to drill these out or is it too risky due to static etc getting to the hdd?
