Question About Overclocking.

This question has been in my mind for a while.
Let's see I got a motherboard that supports the memory speed of 1333mhz.

And I put some memory sticks in that are 2000mhz, in most case's the board will automatically set those at 1333mhz.
(I know some motherboard's this isn't the case.)

But my question is as follows.
Could I overclock the board if it's compatible to achieve the speed's the memory was intended for.
That being the 2000mhz.

It seems learning the answer to this problem will help me in my project.
But I just can't figure it out.

Depends on a lot of factors, but the short answer is, yes.

However, here's why I'm not really much of an overclocker anymore... Consider the price you paid for that 2000mhz memory, and the motherboard that would support overclocking it to those speeds. Now consider you had just paid more for a faster CPU instead, but with basic RAM and mobo. Let's assume the price is the same. Which system is faster? Which uses less power, generates less heat? Which is more stable? Which is quieter?

There are advantages to overclocking, especially when you are on the bleeding edge of performance, or if you take the time to find the perfect blend of components. However, I think the majority of people would be better off not paying premium prices to achieve the best overclock, but instead focus on building the fastest, most economical system.

Well in the project I'm working on, every piece need's to be at top's speeds.
The CPU's I don't plan on overclocking, I just need to get the ram to the speeds of 2000 mhz.
Hence the question.

Now my only problem is finding out how much heat it would actually create, and how to keep it cool.
I'm assuming not really sure.

That by increasing the voltage in the board to get the memory to work at the right speed.
There would be some degree of heat, but would it be the memory running at that temp or the mobo itself.
And how would I keep it cool.

Ya know?
