I have a Averatec All in One 22" Vista system and it is caught in the windows update loop, I have no restore disc, f8 -safe mode, last good know does not work. I am trying to make the system come up in system repair/restore mode, but do not know the Fn key needed to do this. any ideas?
thanks,

Welcome to Geeks2Go!

It's not accessed with an "Fn" key combo, but with an 'F' key.

I found this on an Averatec support page so hopefully it's correct:

"Your machine is equipped with the Phoenix Recovery program built into the hard drive. Upon booting up the unit, press the F4 button to enter the recovery program and follow the on-screen instructions".

(Be aware that you must press F4 at the correct time, that is to say, during the initial boot process after switching on).

Thanks for the insight, found that on the All in One the HD factory restore setting is F5 - but this does not give you the option to try a system restore first, it goes right into the restore.
