I had to boot from a windows xp disc
Do you mean that you did a reinstall of XP, a repair install of Xp or what please.
You are very l;ikely now back to XP as it was on the CD.
That is why you have these issues.
The LAN is integrated on the motherboard,
Network (LAN)Integrated 10/100 Base-T networking interface
download from the heading - original drivers-the chipset drivers.

Your system does not have Microsoft's Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio bus driver installed. You must install this driver before installing the realtek high definition audio drivers. You can obtain the UAA HD audio bus driver from Microsoft.
We already knew that your system reports the the Microsoft UAA driver is NOT installed.
It should have been installed with the updates and the Service Packs.
The first quote is from my post after "If this does not work"
The second quote is HAVE you installed that audio driver.
You wil have to search that link I sent you for the UAA driver, I do not have the time to go throyugh all of the HP site for your computer.
