Vista Continually Freezing

I have 3 pc's and 1 laptop in my house. 1 pc and the laptop run XP, MY pc runs Win7 and the one that my wife uses has Vista on it.

The Vista Machine is having constant problems ... it continually freezes when my wife is trying to use it. It doesn't matter what she does or doesn't do, it freezes up.

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to figure out what is going on and how to fix it.

We have decided to purchase an upgrade to Win7 for her machine, but the install of Vista has to be clean according to the 'system requirements' I've never backed up or made a restore disk for the Vista Machine either, but first things first.

Please let me know how to get started.
