Hi

I built a new computer however i can only get the CPU fan spinning for a few secs. Any ideas what wrong?

My spec are

Intel Dual Core 2.8
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-ES2L Motherboard
4 GB ram
wireless network card
80GB hard drive (from old computer with windows xp)
22x SATA Lg dvd drive
400W PSU

Sounds like a misplaced standoff under the mobo.
Both power connectors to the mobo connected from the PSU?

Fixed it now :D

Turns out i did not put the CPU fan in right

There's a problem with the windows xp drives. Got to get a setup disk.

The error code you mentioned in the duplicated topic is below.

0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

A system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch. There are numerous individual causes for this problem, including hardware incompatibility, a faulty device driver or system service, or some software issues. Check Event Viewer (EventVwr.msc) for additional information.


You mentioned you are getting this while installing XP correct?
Where did the installation disk come from?
