I am so confused after such a long time away from the thread which you have.
However it is still surely a matter of running that test on the intel site.
I cannot believe that on that board the driver is 2011 but I will stand corrected.
Alternatively run this

I can see how the sounmaster did it.

IIf you could advise on the simpliest add on soundcard, I will give that a try. This is a used MB off Ebay and possible thats why I have audio problems, might have known and passed it on to me!

Last year I had 23 older computers to practice on and none of them gave me any problems.

if it was me I would run that overdrive test.
A lot of us are quite impressed with its diagnostic capabilities.

Must have been a mechanical problem with MB or output jack, installed the new soundcard and all is good, no popping and great sound! Thanks for all the help, really appreciated!
