I have MSN6 installed. When trying to upgrade to MSN 7 I couldn't. I got an error message saying

UNABLE TO LOCATE COMPONANT
this application has failed to start CRYPTNET.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem

I decided not to upgrade after seeing this . I then noticed my MSN 6 had been completely disappeared. I tried to reinstall MSN 6.2 but could not. I got a message saying I had to upgrade to MSN7 in order to complete installation.
I can't install 7 because I'm missing this CRYPTNET dll!
Help me get my MSN messenger back! :tazz:

Try here, it says there is a hotfix

http://support.micro...kb;en-us;329433

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

You could also click start then run then type sfc /scannow then press enter to replace system files, you need the XP CD, it runs a blue progress bar and goes off when complete
