Hi, I'm rocking ancient technology here. I have a Pentium 4 single core processor with hyper threading tech on a computer thats about 5 yrs old. I was wondering if there is any ways I could upgrade my processor and not spend 1500 dollars on a brand new computer. My graphics card is decent, I have an okay amount of ram. If anything, could i get a newer motherboard compatible with an agp slot gfx card? Thanks for the help and advice in advance!

Hi Skynet :D
As far as I am aware MBs are no longer made using the AGP slot so your
only option would be to purchase a good quality used one, look out for
a MB and CPU bundle and make sure your present Ram and PSU are compatible.
Is the computer a brand name such as Dell or HP etc or is it custom built
let us know this along with what country you live in and we can look for
some upgrade options for you.

Edit: I see from your profile you are in the states, here are a couple of options;
http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item483e8c4ea3 with this CPU
http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item564262ed7f or
http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item3364c96ac2
I couldn`t find any MBs with the CPU supplied that will take any more than 2GB of Ram.

There are AGP MBs that will accept more than 2GB of Ram, it will just mean finding a fast and compatible CPU.
Would you consider that option.

When you know exactly what it Will cost for an upgrade, I would compare that to a new build using any parts that are usable from your present one.

After doing a little bit of research, I've come to the conclusion that I need to go out and spend money on a new tower. The micro atx that you linked phillpower2 was a memory upgrade but the same kind of cpu. Basically it wouldn't hurt to upgrade to a new tower that runs an I5-I7 processor anyways.
