We recently got HP Pavilion dv6000 and installed our dell A940 printer and have been printing with it for the last two months. Yesterday, I needed to scan a document into the computer and realized that the entire scan portion of the dell A940 did not work. Thinking it just needed to be reinstalled I uninstalled it, but now it will not reinstall. I get as far as picking my language (English) and it stops doing anything. Searching at dell for an answer I downloaded 4 driver updates (I think) that it said I needed, but I keep getting messages saying that driver software cannot be found. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With usb printers or "all-in-one" scanner/printer, it's usually necessary to install it's driver with the device turned off and the usb cable not connected to it. Connect the usb cable & turn on the device only when the driver installer prompts you to do so.

I suggest you start from scratch -- remove the Dell driver & any related software or applications. Turn off the Dell device and disconnect it's usb lead.
Restart Windows.
Now install the Dell driver and only connect the usb cable & turn on the device when it tells you to.
